Cantrell Chrismas

I have been trying to get caught up on some of my scrapbooking. I am so far behind. I wanted to do a 1st year album of all of my kids. Well, I am still working on my oldest 1st year album and I am only at his 3rd month. I have a lot of work to do. As some of you may know I have 4 boys so getting time to craft is not easy at all. My last 2 boys are twins so they keep me on my toes.

Here is a layout that I did of Clay's 1st Christmas with the Cantrell side of the family. On this layout I used the CTMH book Cherrish to get the layout design. I also used some of their stamps and some Bazzil cardstock.

On this circle I used some ribbon to cover the circle to give it a unique look.

Time to move again!

Well Uncle Sam has decided that it is time for us to move to a new base. We will be moving to Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX. Things here are starting to get crazy before the move. One good thing about moving is that you are forced to go through  all your stuff and weed out the things that you don't need anymore. Right now our garage is a total mess. We have piles of trash, piles of things to give away, and piles of things to donate.

Another great thing about moving is that we will be moving within 3 hours of family. We have not been that close to family in 13 years. I am so excited to have my kids be able to get to know their extended family. Growing up my extended family was always together even though we lived about 7 to 8 hours apart.

We only have about 2 1/2 weeks left and time seems like it is flying. I am so ready to say bye to North Dakota and hello to Texas. The weather is gonna be alot warmer and no heavy snow to shovel. I will miss the snow, but not shoveling the driveway. Although you do get a great workout doing the driveway. I do plan on crafting sometime this weekend to finish up a few layouts and some cards. I hope to post those next week. Til next time!

Cody's Birthday Card

Cody's 8th  brithday was on 18 September so our house is very busy for September. I made his card using SU cardstock and designer paper. I also used the robot stamp from the Stamps of Life. Click on Stephanie's link (to the right) to the Stamps of Life and check out her stamps. AMAZING!

We wanted to give the boys something that they have wanted for a while. As you guessed it we got both of the boys a new guitar. Cody is left handed so finding him a guitar was not easy. We had to order it so that is why the card is an I owe you card. The guitar didn't make it for his birthday, but arrived just a few days after. Cody seems to love his new guitar and we hope to get him lessons soon.

Clay's Birthday Card

Well I did make Clay a birthday card  and used some of my new Close to My Heart Stamps. Clay had his 12th birthday this year on September 16th. Wow how time flies. I still think that he should still be a baby. I also used some Stampin Up cardstock. I think that the designer paper is from Cosmo Cricket and the inside stamp is from Stampin Up.

Layout of my 1st Baby

I know I know Clay is no longer a baby. He will be 12 later this month, so you can see that I am waaay behind on my scrapbooking. This means that Cody, Dustin, and Dylan's books are not even started. What a bad mom! Oh well I don't have much time to play in my sanity outlet. I did seem to play yesterday and I am so happy! I used the Close to my Heart book Cherrish for the layout ideas. In this book it give you the recipe for the layouts by telling you how many papers your need and how to cut them. Enjoy!

Here is a layout using CTMH papers and Bazzil cardstock. I also used my Cricut and the Doodle Type cart.

Here is another layout using Bazzil cardstock. Don't remember where I got the other papers. I also used some CTMH stamps and ink along with some TAC stamps.

Ok this layout uses some amazing paper. I used the Wausau Pearlescent Cardstock. This paper has a wonderful shine to it. I also used some SU stamps and ink. Not sure what happened to the photo, but my camera has been messing up. Guess that I need to take it in.

Cards for Grace

I came across a message on another site that sent me to Jennifer McGuire's site. Here I learned about two sisters that were born at the same time and were the best of friends. These twin girls rarely ever left each others side. Their names are Grace and Ellie. Two of the most precious faces you have ever laid eyes on. Ellie was diagnosed with cancer when she was only 6 years old. She fought for 2 years this ugly disease and at the end of June lost her battle. Grace is now without her best friend and twin sister.

My heart aches for this family and reading their story made me cry. To imagine one of my twins gone or any of my children would be devastating. Please make your way to Jennifer McGuire's site to learn how to make cards for Grace to lift her spirits and know that others do care.

Taylored Expressions

I just came across a blog that I had to share with everyone. The blog is ran by Taylor Van Bruggen and it is called Taylored Expressions. She has some amazing challenges and a ton of card layouts for you to collect or join in on.

I came across one of her post called Life as a Stamper's Spouse. This is so funny. You must go and read this. It made me laugh out loud. You can reach this post by clicking the above link.

A Few Cards

I wanted to apologize for neglecting my poor blog. I have been so busy with my kids now that my older 2 are out of school. Trying to keep 4 boys happy is not always so easy. I hope to make some new projects very soon to post, but until then here ya go. These are cards that I forgot to post and came across them this weekend.

I made this card for a dear friend of mine that needed some cheering up. This is my first card using a program called SCAL with my Cricut. I used one of Penny Duncan's files for the nestie looking file. I love these! I also used SU cardstock and inks. The stamp set is by Stephanie Barnard and I love how little chicks turned out.

This next card I made for my brother-in-law's birthday. It is so hard to make "boy" birthday cards, but here is my attempt at it. I used SU cardstock and some embellishments that I don't remember where I found them. The stamp set is from an Alaska themed set that I got off of Ebay and I believe their name was Prairie Peddlers if I remember right.
The inside of the card is very simple and I again used one of Stephanie Barnard's stamps.

This card I made for one of my son's friends birthday. I used SU cardstock and also stamped the Happy Birthday from SU. The cute moose stamp is from Riley and Comapny and you can visit their blog to get some very cute ideas. I also use the words let's party from one of Stephanie Barnard's sets. To make the card not so dark I used a combination of SU markers and colored pencils. Not a bad job I do say so myself since it only took me 10 minutes to do this whole card.(totally spaced til the last minute to make the card)

Father's Day Card for My Dad

My Pink Stamper had a challenge to make a Father's Day Card to win an Expression. I already have one, but I thought why not. I could always use another one or give one away to a friend. So here is my creation.
I used the Old West Cricut Cart and tried to make it look like a Wanted Poster. I am going to add a picture of my dad in the middle, but wouldn't you know it I am out of ink. Always seems to happen that way. I used some Bazzil and Stampin Up cardstock along with some patterned paper that I'm not sure where I got it since I have so much. As my dear hubby says I have too much of everything. As a crafter I say you can never have too much!
Here is the inside of the card. I just love how this turned out. I hope that my dad likes this. He is not one to get excited about things like this. Oh and if ya know him keep this under wraps til he gets it!

Projects for Teachers

Ok so I know that I should have posted this earlier, but with 4 boys and a hubby things just get away from me. I decided to make some thank you cards for my older boys teachers. This is  a thank you gift for all the wonderful things that they have done through out the year. I made 5 cards for each set so that they could use them for themselves. I am so happy that school is out for the summer. Now we don't have a set schedule to follow, just play time for me and the boys!

My boys had such a great year in school this year. Cody learned to read and it has become one of his favorite things to do. If he goes missing you can always find him suggled on the couch or bed reading a good book. Clay attempted to be in the band this year and played the trumpet. I am not sure if his heart is in it or not. We struggled to get him to practice, but when he did he enjoyed it.

So now onto the projects.
This was made with the Create-a-Critter cart and the stamp set if from Stephanie Barnard. The stamp that is on the front of the card is a special edition stamp that was only available to club members a while back. Check out her site for some wonderful sets. I used SU card stock in white, Really Rust, and Old Olive. The patterned paper is also SU and I believe it is the small pack for level 1 hostess gift.
This is the topper for the clear bag that I put the 5 cards in for the teachers. I just wrote their names in the coordinating marker color from SU and stapled it to the bag.
This is the other pack of 5 cards that I made for the teachers. I used SU card stock again in white, Rich Razzleberry, and Bermuda Bay. I used the Rich Razzleberry ink and a crackle background stamp to make the patterned paper. I was so disappointed. My ink pad grazed the card, but I just left it as a beauty mark.
Not sure what happened to this picture, but I didn't realize it was messed up until after I had given out the card sets so not able to retake the picture. This again is the topper for the clear bag that the card set was put in and stapled on the top with the teacher's name written in Rich Razzleberry.

Hope that you enjoyed this. Please leave me some comments so that I can get better at my creations!

Copyright Issues

Ok so I thought that I would post about copyright issues. On the SCAL Hints board on Yahoo groups this has been a hot topic lately. Some people feel as though others have stolen their files. If this is true then sham on them. Please check out the following link to read about copyrights yourself.

Christmas Gift for my Nieces

I made a memory game for my nieces for Christmas this year. It did take me about 2 hours to complete the project, but those of you who are more experienced could get it done alot quicker. I got the idea from Above Rubies Studio. Take a look at Megan's site. She has some amazing things. I used the backs of paper packs for the small squares and added paper to both sides. I then stamped a few of the little cards and also used Cricut carts to make some of the designs. I did not write down the exact supplies that I used so I am sorry for that. I purchased a small unfinished box from Michaels and painted it in pink and lavender and added some sparkles to it. Here are a few of the pictures that I took. I think that it turned out pretty well. Thanks Megan for the video on how to do this.

Everyday Cricut Giveaway!

Hey I wanted to tell everyone about a great giveaway that Everyday Cricut is having. Head on over to Everyday Cricut by May 9th to have a chance to win a Cricut Expression. What a great prize!

Projects for National Scrapbooking Day

I wanted to post a few pictures of the entries I made for the contest that My Pink Stamper had on her bog for National Scrapbooking Day. She had a total of 12 challenges that you could win prizes for. This is the first time that I have ever entered any kind of crafting contest. So please tell me what you think of my cards. I was only able to enter 6 of the 12 because it took me so long to do these 6.

Here is the entry for the Mom's day.

Here is the one for the Colors of the Rainbow

Here is the one for my least favorite Cricut Cart. I used the Simply Sweet cart, cause it is my least used not really my least favorite. I only have about 10 carts and I am pretty new to this.

Here is the entry for Teacher Appreciation

Here is the entry for Monochromatic

The last one I did was for the Critter or Animal challenge

I used paper from Stampin Up and Bazzil. I also used Stampin Up ink and stamps from Stephanie Barnard The {Stamps} of Life. I used Create A Critter and Simply Sweet Cricut Carts and the ribbon I'm not sure where it came from. I tend to buy it when it is on sale at Michael's, Joann's, or Wal-Mart.

Hope that you enjoyed those!
Whitney
So this is my first post and I hope that this works, because I am not great on the computer. I want to thank the wonderful people over on the Yahoo group SCAL Hints. You have given me so much inspiration and help since I have found this group. I still haven't figured out how to make a SVG so I collect them from the wonderful people who graciously share them. Hopefully one day I will learn this myself.

I tend to stay very busy with my family. My 4 boys are very active and quite a handful. On this blog I hope to show some of my projects that I create and also I will be showing off my 4 gifts from God.

Enjoy!
